OCEAN, the decentralized Bitcoin mining pool, mined 10 blocks in a single day. The event occurred on July 11. According to the pool's data, the 10 blocks were mined using DATUM, a template that allows direct selection of block templates by miners contributing hashrate to the platform, without any intermediary.
This case of increased frequency of blocks mined in 24 hours coincides with an increase in the hashrate in the pool.

On June 23, OCEAN pool averaged 4 exahashes per second (EH/s). Since then, the hash rate has remained between 8 and 11 EH/s. As CriptoNoticias reported, the more than doubling of the hash rate in just a couple of days coincides with the entry of a miner identified with the following hash: “3Dkn56s9MVsN7tc6dm8rD4s5rqRyRDHBWC.”
This miner, which could be a person or an entity, maintained a hashrate of approximately 80 PH/s (petahashes per second), a smaller unit than the exahash.
On June 23, however, its contribution jumped to over 3 EH/s, a significant increase that catalyzed the surge in computing power at OCEAN. There are reasons to believe that this miner could be Tether. The company recently announced it had begun contributing hashrate to this decentralized mining pool, as we reported in April 2025.
At the time of writing, 173 blocks have been mined using DATUM in the OCEAN pool. These blocks differ from the more than 11,000 mined by OCEAN in that they were processed using decentralized templates. That is, the transactions included in these blocks were entirely selected by the winning miner, not by an entity that predetermines these templates.
At the time of writing, OCEAN has mined a total of 349,000 Bitcoin blocks. This mining pool was launched in November 2023 and is now among the top 10 mining pools for the cryptocurrency.
