Crypto Craze Chronicles: A Weekly Roundup of News and Insights by alberdioni8406 21|05|23

Once again, here we are to present what were the noteworthy news during the week in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, published by me, alberdioni8406. The week was very eventful, starting off with a dilemma between the CEO of Binance, CZ, and the owner and CEO of the short messaging platform Twitter, Elon Musk.

To this day, the reason behind CZ's decision to unfollow Elon Musk is still unknown, but the news stirred up a lot of speculation among internet users, contemplating various reasons. However, neither of them has decided to disclose the why or react to this news.

During the week, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), responsible for securities regulation, responded to the court's subpoena to provide an answer to the mandamus petition, which required a yes or no response regarding the clarification of the law that regulates the digital asset market for the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. The entity responded, but it was not what the crypto community and the industry were expecting: they simply evaded the answer and bought time, stating that "they are not in a hurry to create a regulation for the digital asset market and that they will continue enforcing against companies they believe are operating illegally in the US market"!

This response raised several questions and emphasized the need for industries to seek new locations to continue their activities. After all, the US regulator shows a lack of interest in creating clear legislation that regulates the digital asset market. Ultimately, the regulator prefers to continue the "cat and mouse" game with the crypto industry, creating an environment conducive to the massive migration of these industries to other places, taking with them millions of dollars in taxes and fees that are relevant to the American economy and hindering the progress of cryptocurrency technology in the territory.

Meanwhile, Europe announced that it had finally created a law to govern the crypto market with the approval of MiCA, making it the bloc of countries with comprehensive legislation on the subject. This approval positions the European bloc at the forefront of technological innovation, embracing an increasingly growing market that has already demonstrated its permanence.

Still in the wake of the SEC, a judge granted the green light for the Hinman documents to be made public, setting a precedent for the general public to have access to crucial information regarding how the agency classifies tokens to determine whether they are securities or commodities. This judicial decision also opens the door for the agency to potentially sue Coinbase to make public internal statements by Gary Gensler, the chairman of the American organization, regarding the topic, according to experts in the field.

An NFT from the Bitcoin network, the famous "ordinal inscriptions," made headlines in the media by becoming the top seller in terms of transaction volume across all Blockchains, with $4.5 million. The collection of 10,000 units minted on the Bitcoin Blockchain, named "bitcoinfrogs," continued the trend of the "trending frogs" after the PEPE frog meme became widely known, making overnight millionaires with astonishing profits in the last month.

These and more articles can be found on my blog, "Barraca Crypto," which reports the latest news from the crypto market ecosystem. You can also leave comments on what you would like to see improved in it.

Have an excellent Sunday evening and a fantastic start to the week.
