What do you think of barista fire? My wife and I are sort of working towards this right now, but this article is obviously written to rage bait.

We both have high-paying jobs we don't like and we live in a low cost of living area. We net something like 8X our living expenses right now. Once we hit a certain number in the bank account, we plan to leave the rat race and we'll work part-time at lower-paying, less stressful jobs and our freelance part-time.
.
We're both driven and successful people, so we're confident we can find some way to make some money on the side if we had full access to our own time. At a certain point, making the bank account bigger doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of happiness. We'd rather just work less and enjoy life more, even if it means living a frugal lifestyle. We both grew up poor. We were living just as happily 10 years ago making a quarter of what we currently make compared to now.
.
By the time we quit our jobs, we'll have two rental properties paid off plus the home we live in and some money in the retirement accounts. A low-paying job will take care of the essentials. If we wanna splurge or take vacations, we'll just need to find a way to make more money or go without. In either situation, we'll be happier, I think.

NPNW fire is better. Save 300K, gives you 12K per year by the 4 % rule. Escape the pink snapper prison, go to Southeast Asia or Latin America. Become a comfy need or work 24 -7 on a business idea, that's what I'm doing.
.
NPNW? No pink snapper, no work, I think.

Please tell me this isn't a thing. Please say psych.
