Ljubljana is a cute little town more or less right in the middle of Europe, depending on where you think Europe becomes Asia.
It is also the capital of Slovenia, the first country to gain independence from Jugoslavia over 30 years ago.
Today, Slovenia occupies a relatively narrow strip of land, nearly all of it by the sea, but the country is also famous for Lake Bled, for its mountains and, now, for crypto.
As it turns out, in 2025, you can walk the cobblestone streets of Ljubljana and its bridges over its canals, then head to a cafe and know that you're statistically more likely to be able to spend crypto there than anywhere else in the world.
The Crypto-Friendly Cities Index - apparently it's a thing - elected the capital of Slovenia as the world's most crypto-friendly city, ahead of Hong Kong, Zurich, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.
According to the the Index, this is due to "the presence of crypto ATMs and retail adoption rates were analysed to reflect each city’s embedded cryptocurrency culture."
