Vitalkin Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, said he wants to simplify Ethereum and make it more like Bitcoin.
In a blog post titled 'Simplifying the L1', Buterin said he wants Ethereum to be "close to as simple as Bitcoin" in five years.
Buterin also said one of the best things about Bitcoin is quite simple, and he wants to bring that to Ethereum.
He wants do it by switching to a zero-knowledge system and protocol-wide standardisation, among other things.
Ethereum is still more or less the go-to L1 network, despite being slower and more expensive than so many others.
In recent years, ETH has severaly underperformed against BTC, but still did pretty well compared to other L1 chains. Let's see how this 'simplifcation' goes.
