We don’t really talk about it enough, but most, if not all, technology we use today derives from military tech.

The internet, for example, is an evolution of the intranet network developed in the 1970s by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the U.S. Department of Defense.

They used to call it 'ARPANET'.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that Meta, aka Facebook, will now ‘allow’ US military forces to use Llama, which Meta’s AI model.

From now on, Llama will be used for logistics and planning, among other things.

This move will involve a variety of players.

These services will offered to the US government in partnership with Microsoft, Palantir, Oracle and Amazon.

And speaking of Amazon, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure will host Llama on their cloud solutions to secure sensitive data for, among others, Lockheed Martin, a huge aerospace company which is also a massive contractor for the US.
