Why? It's a simple reason that may sound silly, but there you have it: I don't like the fact that it is illegal to chew gums in Singapore.

It's not frowned upon or unwillingly tolerated, no. It's illegal. It's a crime.

Sorry, but this is one of the stupidest laws in the world.

In theory, it's because chewing gums can be seen as rude and can lead to public cleanliness problems.

In practice, this is something you should worry about. Because where's the cut-off point? Where does this end? There's no natural cut-off point for these things.

Chewing gums may indeed be regarded as rude and may indeed lead to public cleanliness problems, but so does drinking in public, or eating in public. So making it illegal is a stretch.

What about tank tops or flip flops? Some people don't like those. Should we ban those as well? Why not? They can be seen as rude.

Some people would say it's not the same thing, but why? It's still about the government dictating how you should conduct yourself in public and private when you're doing something that doesn't harm anyone.

Now, Singapore also wants ban to crypto.

The government said all crypto firms offering services outside of the country must get a special license or cease operations immediately, as of June 30, 2025.

No grace period, no ifs and buts.

Failure to comply will result in up three years in jail or a $200,000 fine.

And it is going to be difficult to get that license.
