What is Bitcoin?
An asset.
What is Ethereum?
An asset that's also a platform.
Is Ethereum centralised?
Not yet.
Is Bitcoin decentralised?
Not completely.
Can any crypto ever be fully decentralised?
In technical terms, many of them are, in practical terms, no one currency can ever be fully decentralised if there's no limit on the amount of currency an individual buyer can buy.
So in other words, as long as there are whales, a coin can only ever be partially decentralised?
Yes.
Do you think whales talk to one another and coordinate their movements to affect prices?
I'm pretty sure they do, especially when it comes to certain tokens and coins.
So should we figure out a way to 'ban' whales?
No. It would go against one of the main principles of crypto, ie freedom.
Do you think governments can kill crypto?
No. But they can certainly try, and their efforts will harm users.
Who's to blame for the FTX disaster?
SBF and his family, some of his associates, the SEC, some government entities and officials, some high-profile financial influencers.
Do you think users should share the blame for major crypto train wrecks such as FTX and LUNA?
Tricky one. And I think there's two levels to this. On a moral level, it would be hard to place the blame on users. On a practical level, yes, it would be perhaps understandable, at least to an extent. For a few reasons.
What are those reasons?
First of all, it's always a good idea to look at the CEO. Now, SBF was a bit more subtle, a bit more sly. But Do Kwon was clearly a narcissistic megalomaniac. Second, if it's too good to be true, well, you know. But this question is complex. You can't really break it down with a simple Q & A session.
One last question, what was the point of this Q & A with yourself?
I was bored. And I'm out coffee.
