Sharing the dos and dont's at work is becoming a new passion of mine, I don't know why.
I find it fascinating. And I like the fact this is a field where you never stop learning.
So with that in mind, there are two things I want to share.
First, something we should always bear in mind and second, something we should be mindful of.
The thing we should bear in mind is some people have lazy bosses, but some don't. Some have micro-managing bosses. So we should always assume that our boss will get the chance to examine the result of our work first-hand.
Never ever assume they don't. If we work for a marketing company and say, we're working on a new ad for a client. Always assume our boss will watch every single footage frame.
They might not, but they also might. And if there's something they don't like, they'll let us know.
Second, I always find it hilarious that people think they can afford to NOT care what their boss thinks.
It's amazing to me that people don't realise that our boss can, and might, and will, fire an employee because they just don't like them on a personal level.
Now, we should preface this by saying that are remedies for that. Chiefly because, in some countries at least, firing an employee is not easy at all.
Having said that, to think that our boss will evaluate our work based on performance alone and not our character is a mistake.
Because they can. And they do.
It'd be great if that were not the case, but unfortunately that's exactly what happens.
And it happens all the time.
