If I could get paid in crypto I would. In fact I did, for as long as I could, in the past.
But that's no longer an option, which means I'm stuck with a bank.
Not only that, I'm stuck with a pretty s***y bank.
There's zero point using a 'normal' debit card these days, so I basically spend my days trying to move funds from my bank to various crypto and/or crypto-hybrid accounts so I can get some cashback or something.
This means I linked my bank card, for example, to my Revolut account, and my Nexo account and so on.
The problem is, let's say three times out of seven, the transaction doesn't go through.
Why? No one knows. Because.
The truth is, centralised systems are disaster prone.
Everyone knows about what happened in Spain and Portugal, but here's something else you may not know.
About a month ago, I was in the Maldives, and for about four or five hours, a nationwide outage made it impossible to pay by card.
Any transaction, any amount, any merchant, any bank, any payment circuit, it just wouldn't go through.
Cash payments would've gone through.
Crypto payments would've gone through because the internet was working.
No one likes banks. There must be a reason.
