Approximately 500 km from Paris is the city of Lyon in Rhone-Alps region of France. It is famous for its food and the UNESCO word heritage architectural sites mostly including Roman sites. I was at Lyon for 6 months in the year 2017. I had moved there for my final year internship.
Here are some places to visit when you are at Lyon.
Lyon Cathedral
In the old-town (Vieux-Lyon) is a Roman Cathedral. It's a medieval cathedral with an astronomical clock of the 14th century and museum.

Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière
After visiting the church, at 1 minute walk you can hop on to more than an century old Funiculaire (Cable car) which takes you to the Fourvière Hill.
Note than you also take stairs from the church to reach the hill top where you can find the Basilica of the 19th century. It has four towers around and an art museum. Just beside the church is a park where you get an awesome city view.

Theatre Gallo-Romain
At 3 minutes walk from the church is the Gallo-Roman amphitheater. It's an ancient Theatre of Fourviere built around 15 BC. A calm place to sit and enjoy the city view.

Gallo-Roman Museum
Attached to the theater is the Gallo-Roman Museum.

Rivers of Lyon
Getting back to Vieux-Lyon by foot or in Cable car, you can walk around to explore the River banks of Lyon. Rhône and Saône are the two rivers of Lyon.

Parc de la Tête d’Or
It is one of the largest urban parks in France spreading around 117 acres. It is integrated with a lake and during summer boating is the main attraction in the park.
