General News:

• The Brave Research Team is running remote interviews to learn more about the experience of Brave users with crypto. Some 2022 statistics on BAT from Luke Mulks:

• 1,492,867,042 BAT (99.52%) of the total supply of 1.5 billion BAT are in circulation. The remaining BAT is still in user growth pools. For instance, these pools have been used in the past for partnerships, marketing campaigns, and the now-ended Brave browser referral program.
• BAT is the 13th most distributed token on Ethereum with more than 450k on-chain BAT holders. BAT is also distributed on Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, and Solana.
• Of the top 500 BAT holder wallets, over 270.78 millions BAT (18.05% of total supply) is held by publicly tagged exchange wallets (Binance, Kraken, Gemini, bitFlyer, etc...).
• 11.16% of the total BAT supply (~167.4M BAT) is in DeFi protocols. The top 3 are Compound, Aave, and Uniswap.
• Throughout 2022, Brave purchased over 27 million BAT on the behalf of advertisers. These purchases were utilized to share 70% of the ad revenue with Brave Rewards users.

Brave Browser:

• Solana dApp support is available for Android and iOS in version 1.48 https://brave.com/solana-dapps-mobile.
• Brave VPN on desktop: It's being reviewed by the security privacy team so it should come out really soon.

BAT Community:

• BAT x Adam Ape: Adam Ape will be raffling off some whitelist spots for his upcoming Iron Paw Gang mint (early March) to Sage holders.
• The Degen Royale Team will join the BAT Community for a Twitter Space. NOTE: This event occurred last Friday, the 10th. Here is the Twitter Space's recording.
• Degen Royale is a 3rd person shooter where people can play as a 3D avatar based on their profile picture. It already supports different NFT collections such as Degen Ape Academy and A KID Called BEAST (AKCB). More supported collections are coming, including the 4 tiers of the BAT x Adam Ape NFT collection. 
• Xborg is a gaming platform for esports. Brave is sponsoring their upcoming tournament. See their announcement at: https://twitter.com/xborg_official/status/1620795001147129856
• A BAT x Xborg NFT collection on polygon is in the works.
• In the future, Brave plans to continue sponsoring esport teams.

BAT Ambassadors:

• This week, Bauzz is doing his first IRL BAT & Brave meetup with a college blockchain & crypto group.
• Spanish Ambassadors have started hosting a weekly BAT Community Call in Spanish. You can join Paula, Wilfredo Caro, Luis N., and Paindexter on Thursday's 3:30 PM ET. Links for the call can be readily found in the Twitter feed of BAT Costa Rica.
• Next week, the BAT Community will begin accepting new BAT Ambassador applications. If you want to help with the BAT Community, spread the word about BAT & Brave, and/or run BAT local communities or social media profiles, then please consider applying when the application form goes live.

Q&A:

• Q: Does the Brave Team monitor what their competition does and gain inspiration from it? For instance, other browser & search engines are implementing AI summarizers.
  A: A lot of Brave Team members use different browsers & search engines and keep an eye on their features and on what's being implemented. An AI summarizer is coming to Brave Search https://twitter.com/BrendanEich/status/1616253956145172481.

• Q: Now that it is possible to mint NFTs on the Bitcoin blockchain, does Brave plan to launch NFT collections on Bitcoin?
  A: The team is watching what's happening with Bitcoin NFTs, but our first step is to get UTXO blockchains (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Doge, Zcash...) supported in the Brave Wallet. The team is working on it.

• Q: How have Brave Ads Click Through Rate (CTR) evolved since last year?
  A: The aggregate stat is lower than what it used to be. At launch, it was close to 30% (push notification ads only), now it has worked it's way down and stabilized around 13%. The decline can mainly be explained by the release of more ad formats (i.e. new tab sponsored images & Brave News ads), which have a smaller CTR on average. It can also be explained by the changes in our campaign composition. With the bear market, crypto ads are representing a substantial number of our ad campaigns and the CTR is lower than during a bull market. Now the team is focusing on Brave Search Ads Beta and are working on how they can compete against the industry CTR standard in this area.

Suggestions from Users to the Brave Team:

• Privacy reports are already on Android. Please bring them to Desktop as well. People would like to have these reports distributed at weekly or monthly intervals. There is also a desire to see historical privacy reports.

Upcoming Events:

• BAT Brigade Weekly Trivia will be this Friday February 17th, 2023 at 12:00 pm ET. The event occurs in the Event section of the BAT Brigade Discord server. Participants can win sBAT for correctly answering question. There is also often some BAT given out to community members just for participating.
• BAT Community Twitter Space is happening this Friday, February 17th, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Viking.
