Game should be fun to survive.
Play2earn games bought a revolution in the current world and at one time Axie Infinity was topping the charts and becoming the only "source" of income. In other words, it created employment for many players. But look like Axie Infinity is now in continuous decline and keeps losing its player base each passing day. One of the factors attributed is the diminishing income in the game that caused many players to leave the game as they were playing for generating income. One of the best things about Axie Infinity was the easy-to-play game.
Axie Infinity case study can be used as an example that a simple and easy-to-play game that gives players a fair share of rewards will attract a huge player base but this player base will also be quick to leave if they are not getting some nice rewards for playing. Since there is no "fun" part in the game that is gluing the player base, that causes the player base to dwindle.
Splinterlands Case Study.
Since Splinterlands introduced the Soul bound rewards cards that cannot be sold or rented, it also caused diminished rewards for its player base, especially for bots that need to sell rewards to fund their playing and expenses. Now with bot out from the system and "tangible" rewards reduced significantly for players, then it makes extremely important that players play the game for fun also otherwise a boring and monotonous game will show a decline in the player base.
I hope with the land some new exciting features will be added. In my opinion, adding so many cards and multiple rulesets is making the game more complex for a new player and asks for more attention from the experienced player also.
What still favors the Blockchain game?
Blockchain games do have an inherent advantage as the ownership of assets is with the player and the player can sell their assets or transfer their assets to other players but this advantage has one downside because it requires careful thinking about the number of NFTs available and the usability of the NFTs.
If a blockchain game keeps minting the NFT without adding new features then it will diminish the value of the NFT considerably. and with no exciting features added, it will cause players also to lose interest in the game.
Blockchain game developers need to think carefully before creating NFT in the game and its impact because NFT once sold belongs to the player instead of the game and the scope of correcting the mistake will be very limited.
