The Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian tiger or Tasmanian wolf, is an extinct breed of carnivorous marsupial. The last known Thylacine died in the Hobart Zoo on 7 September 1936. The animal was locked out of its shelter by negligent zoo staff and died from exposure to the elements.

The Australian Museum has an informative page about the Thylacine.

I found a t-shirt with an image of a Thylacine and a snarky assessment that some may appreciate.
