Summer specimens of mushrooms can still be found in late autumn

Letnie okazy grzybów jeszcze do znalezienia późną jesienią

November walks in the forests show that you can still meet typical autumn species, or those appearing in late summer. Today, there are 3 species of mushrooms which, although they do not look like them, are edible.

Listopadowe spacery po lasach pokazują, że można jeszcze spotkać gatunki typowo jesienne, ewentualnie ukazujące się późnym latem. Dzisiaj 3 gatunki grzybów, które choć nie wyglądają są jednak gatunkami jadalnymi.

Helvella crispa

The first mushroom that I have already written about is the Curly Piestrzyca (Hevelella crispa). This is one of the most beautiful species of mushrooms I know. Its beauty is its unusual structure. The white flesh, sometimes translucent, forms unique shapes. The leg is full of folds and grooves, and the hat resembles a beautiful hat, some say a wedding veil, others say a horse saddle. Every person has a different opinion and imagination.

Pierwszym grzybkiem, o którym już kiedyś pisałem, jest Piestrzyca Kędzierzawa (Helvella crispa). To jeden z piękniejszych gatunków grzybów jakie znam. Jego piękno, to nietypowa budowa. Biały miąższ, czasami półprzezroczysty układa się w niepowtarzalne kształty. Nóżka pełna jest fałd i rowków, a kapelusz przypomina piękny kapelusz, niektórzy twierdzą, że welon ślubny a jeszcze inni że końskie siodło. Co człowiek to inna opinia i wyobraźnia.

However, it often happens that mushrooms with unusual forms are not taken seriously as a material for culinary processing. This is most often due to ignorance, superstition and fear of the unknown. However, this species, although it does not have any special culinary value, is edible and may not conquer the palates of many mushroom lovers, but it will certainly visually look intriguing, mysterious and unusual on the table. It is worth trying to collect this species of mushroom, as there is no risk of poisoning and it is certainly interesting.

Często jednak bywa tak, że grzyby o niezwykłych formach nie są traktowane na poważnie, jako materiał do kulinarnej obróbki. Idą za tym najczęściej niewiedza, zabobony i bojaźń przed nieznanym. Ten jednak gatunek, choć nie przedstawia specjalnych walorów kulinarnych, jest jadalny i może nie podbije podniebień wielu smakoszy grzybów, ale na pewno wizualnie będzie się prezentował na stole intrygująco, zagadkowo, nietuzinkowo. Warto spróbować zbierać ten gatunek grzyba, gdyż nie ma zagrożenia zatruciem, a na pewno jest ciekawostką.

Amanita vaginata

The second edible but controversial species of mushroom is the fly agaric (Amanita vaginata) grisette amanita. Here you have to be very careful when collecting, because not everyone should undertake it. In the case of toadstools, a slight mistake in assessing the value of the mushroom can cost us health or even life - so let's collect new species with great humility and make 200% sure that it is an edible mushroom.

Drugi jadalny acz kontrowersyjny gatunek grzyba to Muchomor szarawy (Amanita vaginata) grisette amanita. Tu akurat trzeba zachować sporą ostrożność podczas zbierania, bo nie każdy powinien się tego podejmować. W przypadku muchomorów, drobna pomyłka w ocenie wartości grzyba może nas kosztować utratę zdrowia lub nawet życia - więc z wielka pokorą zbierajmy nowe gatunki, i upewniajmy się na 200%, że to jadalny grzyb.

The characteristic features of this mushroom are the virtually lack of a ring and the striated surface of the cap. It does not have vaginal remnants, i.e. popular dots, but can be of various colors, from gray to cream or even slightly beige. I do not recommend collecting "Mglejarka" to inexperienced mushroom pickers.

Charakterystyczne cechy tego grzyba to praktycznie brak pierścienia, oraz prążkowana powierzchnia kapelusza. Nie posiada pozostałości po pochwie, czyli popularnych kropek, ale może mieć różne barwy, od szarej przez kremową, czy nawet lekko beżową. Nie polecam zbierania "Mglejarki" niedoświadczonym grzybiarzom.

And finally, a small kite in a micro version. This is a very young individual that I didn't want to pick, but unfortunately it came out of the ground with another adult.

A na koniec czubajka kania w wersji micro. To bardzo młody osobnik, którego nie chciałem zrywać, ale niestety wyszedł z ziemi z innym dorosłym.

If I left it, it would rot in the ground. At least that's how I took it for educational purposes. And after drying, it practically did not change its form and is a nice exhibit in my various strange collections.

Gdybym go zostawił, zgniłby w ziemi. Tak przynajmniej zabrałem go w celach edukacyjnych. A po ususzeniu praktycznie nie zmienił formy i jest fajnym eksponatem w moich różnych dziwnych zbiorach.
