Walking through the park, in places I had not been before, resulted in a literal discovery. I found stands of edible dogwood, in a place far from the beaten path.

Spacer po parku, w miejscach gdzie mnie jeszcze nie było zaowocował i to dosłownie odkryciem. Znalazłem bowiem stanowiska derenia jadalnego, w miejscu oddalonym od utartych ścieżek.

I have never made any preserves from this fruit, which is a vitamin bomb. That is why I intend to collect a small amount - about 0.5 kg and make a tincture from it - apparently it is brilliant.

Generalnie roślina występuje w stanie dzikim, ale udomowioną ja i jest obecnie hodowana przy domach, w ogrodach i na farmach derenia.

Oprócz walorów smakowych i zdrowotnych dereń jest pięknym krzewem dekoracyjnym i idealnie nadaje się do hodowli w ogrodach, nie jest wymagający, lecz lubi miejsca bardziej nasłonecznione. Jest to roślina mrozoodporna, i rośnie na każdym podłożu. Jego żółte kwiaty pojawiają się wczesną wiosną bardzo szybko, czasami już w lutym i wyglądają obłędnie.
