Weekly PixelART

Hello friends, I hope you are having a nice day. As it is becoming a habit, I leave you my pixel art practices from the previous week. We continue with the challenge of one daily, here I will show you my favorite creations.

I started the week with the challenge of making a 64x64 px character. I chose a snowman, and by practicing various techniques, I really liked the result. I also wanted to make a small snow animation, but I didn't like the final result very much.

Then it was the turn of another creature, this time it was a jelly. I had already made jellies before and I was very happy with the result. For this occasion, I wanted to complicate things a bit more by making the jelly completely cubic. I started by tracing the outline with a simple cube, then I erased edges trying to find transparencies, lights, and shadows. I concluded with a smiling face that I liked a lot. It was really a challenge to turn straight shapes into a kawaii creature.

The next challenge was to make chests. I tried to do it without using references and, at first, it was quite complicated. Above all, the decision to start with an open chest, being this the first chest I made, was not a good choice and I couldn't give it the depth it required. But the final result didn't displease me entirely.

Since I didn't want to be left with the bad taste of the previous chest, after watching some tutorials I decided to get to work and create a new chest. This time I didn't want to make it open, and I really liked the result. I plan to dedicate extra time just to practice creating chests and boxes, and by the way, improve my handling of perspective.

Following the daily planning, it was time to draw a moon. If I remember correctly, the dimensions were 64x64 px, quite large for a moon and a small background, in my opinion. To create the moon, I simply made an intersection of two circles, removing the excess. I really liked the final shape and adorned it with some craters. For the background, I made a cloudy sky using circles. I really liked the abstract shapes created by the clouds, perhaps this being my favorite drawing of the week.

The rest of the days were for creating free drawings, and with my obsession with aliens, I decided to create one in its simplest form. I used symmetries for both the body and the eyes, added a few details, and done! I also really liked this result.

I leave you with a small sped-up video of some processes. I hope you enjoyed the results and I encourage you to try pixel art as a form of artistic expression. Don't be afraid if it gets a bit complicated at first. Thanks for getting this far, a big greeting and my best wishes for success. Until next time!
