Why use Presearch as your search engine?

You are probably interested in knowing how Presearch compares to Google. Well, in short, for everyday browsing, you will be just as happy with Presearch as you are with Google. At least in terms of search result quality and speed.

Why would you even consider switching from Google, then? Google has been great to you so far! Right? Well... Let's think about that.

Privacy, Decentralization and Ownership

A few days ago I used google to search for an electric longboard. I want something to help me move around faster on campus and play Coin Hunt World more efficiently. Well, next thing I know, Instagram, Facebook and even cooking recipe websites are showing me ads for electric longboards. There is little that annoys me more than seeing electric longboard ads all over the place. If I had done the same search with Presearch, odds are that I would not be seeing those ads at all.

Presearch, as opposed to google, is privacy respecting. It does not link the searches you make to your online identity, and even more impressive, it strips away any identifying information from the search query before sending it through the search infrastructure.

In fact, Presearch is based on a very interesting idea of decentralizing the web search process. You can actually help build up the Presearch infrastructure by running a node on your computer. And one of the main goals of the Presearch team is to eventually have the company and the entire infrastructure be owned and controlled by the community and a non-profit foundation. This is longitudinally opposite to Google's motivations, and by simply using Presearch, you can contribute to this vision.

Rewards and Advertisements

In addition (and even complementary) to a decentralized and community focused ideology, the Presearch team recognizes that even without attaching personal information to web searches, the web searches themselves are valuable, and they have set up Presearch to actually reward users for making search queries. (There are efforts in place to stop spammers, don't worry.) So you can actually receive Presearch tokens for searching, instead of Google keeping all the revenue from your web activity.

Moreover, Presearch allows anyone to use Presearch tokens to create advertisements on the platform. You know how the first few search results on Google will almost always be advertisements? Well, Presearch also does this. The difference is that it operates on the novel concept of Keyword Staking.

Keyword staking: Token holders stake their PRE tokens against a certain word or phrase (a.k.a. keyword), and by doing this, they receive the right to have ads displayed on search result pages whose query matches the staked keyword. For example, if you want to advertise the game Coin Hunt World to users searching about bitcoin fountains, then you can stake a portion of your PRE tokens against those keywords, and some of the users searching about bitcoin fountains will receive an advertisement about the game. Want to stop the ad? Simply stop staking.

Getting started with Presearch

Have I convinced you yet? If not, check out the Presearch whitepaper and their website. And most importantly, try out the search engine yourself at presearch.org.

Presearch is currently distributing 25 PRE tokens to new users. Support me via https://presearch.org/signup?rid=2228674 and create your Presearch account to support this amazing project.
