How do you cash out crypto airdrops?

I tried or a month or so a year ago to gain crypto airdrops and all was going well. I had an app that gave me alerts to airdrops and the estimated value of the drop. Gaining the value was easy, like promoting the the new token on Facebook or Twitter. Then I waited till the airdrop ended and sure enough I received the value. But when it came to converting the new tokens to BTC or GBP it seemed impossible, as no exchanges listed these tokens. I thought it was too good to be true. I must have had an estimated value of about $120.
