Today, three billion people around the globe have the Internet - this is about 40% of our entire population. And there are about eight billion people in total. And it turns out that one person out of three daily enters the World Wide Web. The Internet and social networks have become one of the main sources of information, we shop online, manage our bank accounts, receive training and much more, but, as before, its main function is communication. We use networks to express ourselves, to exchange opinions, to defend our point of view.
And another nice bonus that social networks and the Internet gave us is the appearance of smartphones, any other gadgets, smart watches that use the Internet and through which we can access our favorite social networks and communicate. And they also made our work easier for us and we can exchange information almost instantly, being in almost any land.
Probably six or seven years ago, you and I practically did not hear anything about censorship on the Internet, about the fact that freedom of speech in social networks can be limited and our content can begin to be moderated. What is happening in modern society now could then seem to us the plot of a science fiction film, in fact, what we saw in the cinema. But now, unfortunately, these are no longer the directors' fantasies, this is our reality and reality.
However, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948, is losing its force and significance more and more every year.
Initially, the Internet and social networks were planned to become a place where every person could freely express their beliefs, principles and thoughts without fear and looking back. But it ended very quickly. The era of web 2.0 has come, where all the power and power was concentrated in a small number of Internet giants, who began to impose certain rules of the game on us all, what is possible and what is not. And since then, Internet censorship on social networks has been gaining momentum more and more. And the development of technologies in the field of artificial intelligence is now already leading to the fact that blocking our content is becoming more efficient and faster.
Let us now think about what such censorship leads to and what will the blocking of information / our page on the social network lead to?
1. We lose access to the full amount of information.
2. We may be misled/manipulated in various economic and political situations.
3. Well, the most apogee of the situation: if we do not have all the reliable information, then how will we make our choice, make decisions, including in political issues.
So the question arises: can we influence this situation? Yes. And if not a ready-made solution, then of course there is a path along which we should move in this matter. You and I just need a decentralized social network, in which there will be no censorship from anyone, just let's not confuse this concept with moderation (there is always prohibited content - something that falls under criminal liability in any country in the world, which does not comply with ethical and moral standards).
Content moderation will be purely in the hands of the community. Only a general vote will decide on the need to remove inappropriate content. Well, of course, as in the good old days, bloggers and active users will be able to earn money online, monetize their content. And that's all about her - Solcial. Decentralized network of a new generation.
