The first thing I must inform you, dear friends, is that I am not a person who knows the Defi market, although my profession is Economic Sciences, I am an Accountant, my knowledge of this world is just beginning, albeit rapidly, due to my obsession to study topics that they generate interest to me.
After this small preamble, necessary to understand the rest of the writing, I will give the fundamentals of my position ...
I believe that the possibility that more than 10,000 cryptocurrencies coexist and revalue in the world (10,315 according to coinmarket at the time of writing this article), is unfeasible ... and some will end up merging (in some way that I do not know) and others disappearing.

I estimate that at some point many altcoins will completely lose their value, or migrate to another format, and end up disappearing. I do not express it from a pessimistic point of view, but understanding that the main functions of currencies are:
1) Being an instrument of exchange, something that happens, practically, only within this universe and between the same currencies,
2) Serve as a store of value, a function that has been fulfilled until now, beyond its instability.
The other functions, how to serve as a unit of account and price pattern, are relatively simple given the technology that contains them, and the fact of being a medium of exchange.
Thinking about these functionalities, it is difficult to conceive that more than 10,000 currencies coexist and all of them can be useful and practical.
On the other hand, it is difficult to know how they will react to the definition of the different governments to devise regulations to contain them. Until recently, they were not seen as a factor in the deterioration of the power of central banks and the states that govern them, however today this point has changed, and I think there will be reactions from these institutions.

On the contrary, the fact that many investment funds, some of them large, have decided to invest, and have dedicated part of their portfolios, gives cryptocurrencies a certain guarantee of long-term survival.
Checking these points is that I believe that those currencies that have already gained a high level of positioning, of recognition by society, are the ones that really have possibilities, not only to recover faster from the current explosion of the bubble, but from the challenges futures they will face.
It also seems to me that many cryptos that are born tied to investment projects, I know the case of the lithium extraction conglomerate in my country, they have a greater capacity for subsistence, although they are closer to being shares without voting or interference in the company , that properly cryptocurrencies.
If we ask people outside the crypto world, and if they are over 40 years old, they can hardly name us more than 5 or 6 cryptocurrencies, this is what for me ends up positioning Bitcoin and Ethereum above the rest ...
I can't imagine how Elon's tweets would have impacted another currency ... I think they would have made them disappear directly ...
Beyond my interest and personal commitment to EOS or Cárdano ... In the long term, I understand that the big winners will be the original coins ...
