I come across Torum a couple days ago. Being a noob in crypto world, I'd like to jump to the new things when the opportunities present themselves.
Before I start describing my experience of the platform, I want to admit that I am not a Facebook or Twitter person. I tweeted a couple time to get free stuff in HP Discovery during business trips, and wish birthdays on Facebook. So far, I have talked more on Torum of both of social platforms I just mentioned (guess it is not hard since I barely did anything in that two systems).
First Impression
Beside two of the operational team member shares the same last name with me, my first impression was I can view all the people involved with the product, and their LinkedIn profile on the about page. That's pretty cool since we can see what they have done before professionally in the past.
Their team members constantly broadcast notification, bugs/issues and fixes in my feed. I understand it is still in beta, and their crypto does not have a real dollar price yet. But I like how to communicate with the audients.
I always felt that I have to write a good story on STEEM/HIVE/Matter.news; be technical on Publish0x (which is why I barely anything written here yet, still in the learning phase). But on Torum on the other hand, I am more casual.
I wrote something like this without expecting any feedback, but I did. This is my first post beside the introduction on the platform. Yes, I know, that's only one comment, but that's 1 comment more than I got on Publish0x.
Pros
1. There is a daily/weekly/lifetime mission system, where you can earn their native token XTM. It could be an easy, steady income while on the platform. Missions are daily logins, creating posts/threads, likes, and comments, which are fairly easy to do.
2. It is quite easy to navigate through the entire web application. Unlike STEEM/Hive, your post could be in different places (blog, posts), everything is a single feed.
3. I really like the engagement from the admin team members. I joined Torum when there was a bug to validate email addresses. A big red 400 error in my browser's console message screen. I have been to several new platforms recently, I just felt, Oh well, I'm going to browse a couple other product I've learned from Publish0x posts. It did not take long, the admin manually validate my email address. Not saying the admin has to manually perform any system check is a good thing, but I can tell they are working on their product tirelessly.
Cons
1. The daily mission system: I know I mentioned it as one of the pros. If you are an enthusiastic about crypto and community, there is no problem getting on everyday. But for others, it felt like playing a mobile gatcha game, you have to log on everyday to finish the tasks. It might turn into your chores when time moves on. Of course, so far, I don't feel way.
2. Bugs: Like I mentioned in the Pro section. I encountered a bug when validate my email address. That is the only problem I have so far, but it is in beta, I bet there are more bugs some where waiting us.
3. Performance: I have encountered slowness from time to time, especially updating the feed when scrolling. Multiple admins have posted this issue.
Overall
Overall, I like the system, the motivated admin team. Content wise, I have seen individual's educational posts, airdrop promotions, and content links from Publish0x or Leo finance. I really is a Facebook alternative with crypto flavor. I am definitely will have my first seven day mission complete tomorrow, and plan to stay.
