Hackers broke into Canon's servers and demanded a ransom in cryptocurrency

Criminals have encrypted data, photographs and other important documents of the users of the Corporation. Hackers threaten to publish information to the network if the money is not paid within a week.

Canon Corporation was attacked by hackers belonging to the Maze group. On July 30, the company's servers were infected with a virus that encrypts files. The attackers said that 10 terabytes of user data will fall into open access if a ransom in cryptocurrency is not paid, the amount of which is not specified, bleeping Computer reports.

Employees of the portal managed to get a message that hackers left after hacking Canon. It says that files, photos, databases and other important information are encrypted. Transcription of documents will be possible after making the purchase. If the company does not comply with the terms of the agreement within 7 days from the date of the attack, all information will be published on the Internet.


In mid-July, hackers placed an ad selling the data of 142 million guests of the MGM Resorts hotel chain. The company replied that they never kept a full copy of the user database, and this ad is an attempt to ruin the reputation.
