Finally Landlord: The Feeling of your own Digital Property

Finally Landlord: The Feeling of your own Digital Property

"It is good to have land"

These are the wise words of an uncle of mine.

And boy, he's right!

After I joined Upland, I got the opportunity to spend my fresh UPX and to purchase my first very own property. The first question that came to my mind was: "Wow, so that's my first asset. But... I have absolutely no idea, if it is a in a good neighborhood or if the monthly income fits its value, or... or...

Anyway. Upland already has a fast growing community on Discord an Telegram. So I joined both of them and learned my first lessons in property hunting and treasure hunting. The mechanics of the game are the next big challenge that has to be mastered. You get a feeling for the prices and values of properties very fast.

And this is one big element that makes up for the attraction of the game: The feeling of owning land (right now) and real estate (in the near future). Upland makes it possible for everyone to be part of an asset market and a prosperous community. All of that gives us the opportunity to own assets that probably we could never afford in real life.

There is one fact that gives a hint about the unique character of the game: It is the one and only app that I ever spent real money on. So this has to mean something.

What do I expect from all of this? Do I expect some kind of return?

Maybe in a way, yes. But I am totally clear, that the money that is spent on Upland may vanish forever. The odds for a success are higher, though. I read the white paper recently and all of the dynamics regarding the blockchain and the way of handling assets are well planned. And who knows? Maybe, in a few years we all are millionaires! San Francisco as „Genesis City“ may gain massive value in the future.

I don’t regard property in Upland as a classic investment. There are too many insecurities about the currency UPX, the dynamic of the economy and the market, and the behavior of the players. But it is worth a try.

Some discussion within the community had an interesting output: What is the audience of the game? One possible answer: It is not for kids. It is for people who are working, who are interested in real estate and trading. People who want to spend their money on something that gives value in return. This gets paired with the (still new) technology of the blockchain which makes it even more exciting.

To conclude: We probably have an adult and educated audience that is fascinated by the technology behind the game and the excitement that lies within trading, bargaining and earning.

In the next article we focus on a tremendously funny style of playing Upland: The role play elements. Did you know there are house parties on a regular basis?

Raving into the night! Party on, to the music and the money!

How do you rate this article?
