By mango juice | 0mango-juice | 17 Apr 2024

What’s up Splinterlands players!

I hope all of you are doing well in your life and also enjoying the day with our loved ones. If you are a splinterlands player then congratulations on finishing another ranked season and I hope that by now, all of you guys have claimed and collected your season chest rewards and started your journey in this new ranked season already. But unlike all the previous ones, from this season onwards, everything is going to change because the long-awaited Glint update has finally launched and got live after the season end And I hope all of you are very excited about it. In this post, I will talk about this mega update that has brought a lot of changes along with it and will change our experience entirely with the new reward mechanism. So, without further ado, let us jump right in!

This update is named Ranked battle Overhaul and the main objective of this update was to entirely change the ranked playing experience for the players and bring an entirely new mechanism for in-game rewards in the ranked section that will be a more effective approach in asset building while removing some old things. The first major change in this update is the removal of daily focus and season reward chests and introducing Glint token which will be the token of ranked section. Yes, there will be no more reward chests and thus no more random rewards and instead, from now on we will be getting glint tokens for every ranked match win and we can use this tokens to buy a lot of things in the newly introduced Reward shop that just got added in the game after the update.

The splinterlands team has already introduced 2 major changes in recent times in ranked section, the first one is removing the ELO based rating system where a player would gain or lose his trophy ratings dynamically whenever he wins or loses a ranked match. This ELO based rating has now changed into a flat system where a player will now gain or lose exactly 20 rating points upon winning or losing a match. If anyone plays below champ league, then maintaining a winning streak can get you +40 rating per ranked match win but however, win streak is removed from the champion league and also from this season onwards, the max rating cap that one can achieve will be fixed to 5000 in order to ensure equitable reward distribution among players. The second change was removing the leaderboard dec rewards below champion league and there is now only one leaderboard in the highest league of champion (separately for both wild and modern). Moreover, there will be no card level caps while playing in the ranked section which will help and encourage a player to quickly move upwards in the league if he or she has comparatively better upgraded cards and good playing skill. There will also be no matchmaking between players depending on their current playing league and will be depending on the trophy count of the player.

Now, with the new update being launched today, the team has introduced the glint token into the game and from now on instead of earning reward points (which used to give us reward chests), we will be earning glint tokens which will be the in-game currency of ranked and the glint earning will be depending upon boost point of the player and also the card foils and some other parameters. While the boost point of a player will be the base of glint earning, the player can increase their glint token earning further by using gold foil cards as well. In the updated ranked game page, You can see the Glint boost box at the left side showing your current boost and base glint earning per ranked match win and on the right side, you can see your current glint count and also glint from season end loot.

Now, how the glint token will be helpful for us? Glint token will be the currency to purchase many different things in the newly launched reward shop where we can buy different types of reward packs, Merits, Energy, Legendary and Alchemy Potions and titles. There will be 5 different types of reward cards pack the ones with higher cost will have chances of pulling better rarity or gold Foil cards.

Not only that, but from now on we can also buy energy using this glint tokens and play even more and thus will be earning more SPS. This will certainly help us to manage our reward earning even more. If anyone is lacking reward cards in his collection and does not have enough upgraded cards, he will focus on getting those reward cards first, so he will spend his glint tokens on the reward packs. Those who have already a good collection of reward cards can use their glint points after merits to get more gladius edition cards or can spend his glint buying energies and in this way, he can play more battles and thus more SPS earnings. Players can also use their glint to purchase potions or save a lot of glints to purchase limited edition titles with their lot.

Overall, I like this new Glint idea as it gives us more control on what we actually want from our rewards. No more tons of potions or merit points every day from those chests that annoy me often and I can just use my glint tokens to purchase the high-level reward packs to collect more legendary and epic cards which will help me a lot to max my reward collection faster. I will be also saving glint tokens and buy more energies whenever I want to when a but more SPS from my playing. So you can clearly see how effectively you can now manage your reward generation and thanks to splinterlands for bringing this update.
