"Narrated by Muhammad bin Ali bin Al-Hussein, with his chain of narration from Shu'ayb bin Waqid, from Al-Hussein bin Zaid, from Al-Sadiq, from his forefathers, peace be upon them, in a hadith regarding forbidden practices. He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah's blessings be upon him and his family, prohibited making images and said, 'Whoever makes an image, Allah will order him to breathe a soul into it on the Day of Judgment, and he will not be able to do so.' He also prohibited burning any part of an animal with fire, using a ring made of brass or iron, and engraving any part of an animal on a ring."
This hadith provides guidance on respecting creation and practicing humility. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) discouraged making images of living beings, it was a reminder that life and creation are sacred gifts from Allah. By avoiding the creation of images, believers are encouraged to recognize the uniqueness of Allah’s power to create life. Additionally, the hadith advises against burning any part of an animal, wearing certain types of rings, and using animal images on them. This teaches us to be mindful of what we wear and how we treat animals, promoting respect and kindness. These small guidelines help us reflect on our actions, reminding us to respect both life and the natural world as part of our worship and ethical practice.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Once Jibril came to me and said, “O Muhammad, your Lord sends you greeting of peace and prohibits you to decorate the houses.’” Abu Basir has said, ‘I asked what is decorating the house?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is pictures and statues.’”
This hadith shares an important message from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about how we decorate our homes. The angel Jibril came to him with greetings from Allah, advising against using pictures and statues as decorations. This guidance reminds us to keep our homes simple and not to focus too much on material things. Instead of filling our spaces with images, we should create a peaceful environment that encourages faith and spirituality. By doing this, we can make our homes places where we feel closer to Allah and can grow in our beliefs.
