People say AI will replace all jobs. This is not true if you simplify what AI truly is, AI is just a neural network with a dataset.
Imagine you are a cook you make recipes. AI goes through the kitchen and samples all the recipes. The "AI" goes back and produces a result. It is an amalgamation of every relevant recipe, the AI cannot learn it may be 80% or 90% as good and even at some point may be 99.999% as good but because AI is just reinterpreting the data it has available / is trained on that means it can never be as good or better than a human. For 100% it would be just be another recipe. Another point i want to make is it is going to get more and more expensive to make models better since if they want to improve their models more to get to the 99% they have to filter through the data/datasets that the companies have scraped of the internet. The reason why AI companies grew so fast was because they could easily get the starting information for incredibly cheaply by just scraping websites. Now they have scraped all the information the only way they can improve it is refining it. Verifying the billions of sentences and pieces of information would cost money that these companies don't have. The other option is keep scraping what is outputted everyday. Since AI output is always a derivative of human work, training new models on AI-generated content means making a copy of a copy. It creates a feedback loop where the system is just eating its own slightly degraded output, causing overall quality to steadily drop.
Now this is the point you may be asking why companies are so desperate to use AI if it is just worse than humans. Companies care about efficiency, humans may be better but in some scenario companies might see the reduction in quality as a compromise. Coders may be just fine but will have to improve since AI might be the 99% but the 1% is where the bugs live that take down entire companies. Luckily some companies are realizing that AI isn't as good as it is chalked up to be. A lot of the people that say AI will doom the world and it is incredibly powerful are the people that have some reason to say that or some incentive. Elon musk once said that AI will be replacing almost all coders soon. He owns an AI company. People are taking someone saying their own product is amazing as an accurate prediction. That is like me saying reading posts made by me (and tipping) makes you 10% smarter everyday.
AI will never be able to transcend the highest peak of what exists, at best it can only copy.
Now this is all good and well but there is a reason there is an asterisk in the title. I specifically have mentioned AI:
*I am specifically talking about how AI cannot be better than what it is trained on. AGI on the other hand can far surparse what it is trained on.
