A run-in with the devil himself.

Let me tell you about a recent experience.

I had a dream where I met the devil himself, inside the body of a woman. I could see right through her. Her humanity was hanging on by a thread, as she was almost completely overtaken with the possession of Satan's spirit. She instantly lured me, with great ease. She was not attractive, but the evil promises were. She delivered unto me the most atrocious evil the world could conjure. I could not escape it. She used me to manifest this evil. Then, I woke up.

As much as I tried to forget that dream, it is still haunting me. It has shaken me to my core.

I have tried for many years to study my dreams, usually resulting in deeper confusion about the meaning. Sometimes they are archetypal, and easy to understand, but this one, despite the strong motifs, was confusing and disturbing.

I keep asking myself, "How could my mind have conjured this?" How is it that I feel guilt for being so easily manipulated in this dream, when the dream itself was not real?

The dream contained a lesson. It proved that we are all capable of evil. We all have an evil seed inside of us, and if we let it germinate, we are overtaken.

The woman in the dream had done this. Her seed had been germinated, and it had grown to devour her soul. Her ability to lure me so easily was a troubling wake up call. Here I am, living my life, and trying my hardest to be a good person and live with a solid moral compass. Then, along comes this dream that shows me the darkest depths, perhaps of myself or perhaps of humanity.

None of us are protected from true evil. In fact, we are completely defenseless. The only protection we have is from our Creator. A chapter we are familiar with, is in Ephesians.

Ephesians 6:10-18 tell us:

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Therefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and, having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

It is often easier to read than to put into practice. It is not easy to face your day to day life with this spiritual armor. I know I forget about it far too often. There is also an element of ridicule, when one is armed in this way. Maybe its like whenever you see a picture of an armed militia at a protest, and people take to social media to laugh and point at these crazy "conspiracy theorists." Why do they need all that armor? Its because they are prepared for something. They feel a threat, and they are not afraid to show you and tell you about it. Whether you agree with the militiamen or not, they are showing you that they are prepared. Are we that prepared? Are we prepared not only to fight evil, but get made fun of for doing so?

A quick side note on protesting. We love to feel like we are on the right side of history, and we love to make our voices heard. But when we take to the streets in protest, our voices are falling on deaf ears in this day and age. Half the time, we don't know who the enemy even is, yet, we just yell into the abyss hoping for change. Who is the enemy?

It becomes a bit easier to prepare to fight, when you know who or what the enemy is. Verse 12 here gives us a good description:

Ephesians 6:12

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

The enemy, as outlined here, is all of the ideologies and control that mean us harm. This manifests in so many ways, but developing the ability to recognize the toxic entities is the first step to fighting them. We all sin and we all make mistakes. This is because the enemy is often stronger and smarter than us. All of this was echoed in my dream, and it took this dream for me to realize that I am spiritually unequipped to deal with pure evil. A hard wake up call, but a valuable lesson.

Today, I want all of my readers and listeners to meditate on the battles ahead and what we can do to protect ourselves. No one is safe from evil, and we need God's protection to help us as we enter the spiritual battlefield and face the manifestations of evil.

I will close with a prayer for today.

God, I come to you today to thank you. Thank you for your unending love and patience with us. I ask for your forgiveness, in our moments of weakness. I pray that we might all be better equipped with spiritual tools to break free from the powers of evil, and let us seek comfort in your eternal light. I pray for everyone's continued safety as we navigate these unprecedented times and I pray that we might all grow to be better examples of love and light to our communities. In your glorified name we pray, Amen.
