tl;dr: Saving ourselves from the ravages of climate change may not be so difficult after all.
Almost everything we hear about climate change is dark and depressing. It can feel hopeless.
Which is why the Netflix documentary, “Kiss the Ground” is a welcome change.
It certainly won’t be easy, but as Woody Harrelson narrates this film (official website), you start to believe that it is possible.
The core premise is that, if we revitalize the soil around the world, which has been so depleted by the combination of till farming and pesticides, we can restore the delicate ecosystems that exist just below the surface and which are carbon sinks of epic proportions.
In fact, if we replenish the soil, which is possible, we could see serious carbon “drawdown” over the next 20 years.
That’s the good news.
The bad news, of course, is that we have to do it.
In the meantime, we’re living through an emissions crisis, so build out your climate change portfolio with MCO2 (disclosure: advisor).
