Are all Problems the Same?

tl;dr: Does every problem just come down to alignment and coordination?

I’ve been exploring the worlds of modern management theory and OKRs in addition to my passion for crypto and I’m noticing some similarities.

All of them are trying to address the issue of:

how do we get large groups of people to work together in a fair way to achieve great results and solve large problems?

No one wants to work in a place where they feel they aren’t valued.

Nor do they want to work some place where they feel like their work doesn’t have meaning.

And no one wants to work in a place where they feel there are “slackers.”

And given that we’re in Presidential transition season (or at least most of us are-a different kind of alignment/coordination problem), it’s timely to think about this issue not just at a company or crypto-network scale, but at a community governance level.

Democracy (in its various forms) is an effort to maximize consensus and create a community that has maximum alignment and effective coordination.

Religions are an alignment and coordination problem. How do we rally around a common set of beliefs and coordinate activities to reinforce each other’s orientation around those beliefs?

Climate change most certainly is an alignment and coordination problem.

Anyway, I don’t really have a big insight or “a-ha” on this one. I’m really just curious if this is a lens through which looking at the world might yield some unexpected perspectives?
