In an attempt to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus, Peru has begun limiting public movement by gender. Men may only leave home on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while woman may only leave him on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. On Sundays, no one is allowed to leave home. Local authorities stated that banks, supermarkets, shops, and even pharmacies will be closed on Sundays. These new temporary rules do not apply to those authorized to work in essential jobs such as food production, medical response, and banking during the pandemic or have medical emergencies.

As of now, the nation has confirmed at least 55 deaths and nearly 1,500 cases of Covid-19. Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra says that the new temporary limitations are to "get fewer people on the streets every day". Meanwhile, Interior Minister Carlos Morán says that police and security forces will be deployed to enforce the temporary movement restrictions.
