A midair collision at 08:27 local time between a Piper PA-12 and a de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver over Anchorage, Alaska, the United States of America, resulted in 7 deaths. According to a statement by the Alaskan State Troopers, there were no survivors in the incident that happened near the airport in the city of Soldotna. All those killed were confirmed dead at the scene except one person who succumbed to injuries while being transported to a local medical facility. As of now, the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

According to local media, the Piper PA-12 aircraft carried a single occupant, State Representative Gary Knopp, while the other aircraft carried four tourists from South Carolina, a guide from Kansas, and a local pilot. Locals in the area described the Friday morning weather conditions as “very good” with visibility of about 15 kilometers (10 miles) of visibility and no strong winds or fog.
