Cryptowriter: Cryptocurrency & Cannabis

By Thomas Wolf | Thomas Wolf's Den | 29 Jan 2021

I am a cryptocurrency advocate, as most-everyone knows; however, I am also an avid cannabis advocate.

Free speech carries with it some freedom to listen.” Bob Marley

It is only a matter of time before these two sprouting-seed giant industries find a way to connect.  I know for a fact cryptocurrencies have been used for cannabis sales both legally and illegally; that is far from new.  I want to speak to you about the relationships between cannabis companies and cryptocurrency coins, tokens, and corporations.  Partner relationships between the two could be tremendously profitable for all parties involved.

When I was in Illinois (recreational cannabis is legal for adults over 21 there) with COVID, I made it through the entire 1-month quarantine process without taking so much as a single Tylenol.  However, I was partaking in some excellent medical cannabis.  I do not know how I would have made it through the first four weeks without it - it has serious medicinal benefits, and they are no longer being ignored. I have legally purchased and consumed medicinal cannabis with Bitcoin (BTC), Uniswap (UNI), and Ethereum (ETH) assets quickly cashed out to a PayPal card from Coinbase - it was quite convenient outside of having COVID.

Vice President Kamala Harris has prioritized decriminalizing cannabis on a Federal / National level - a former San Francisco, CA prosecutor. With the entire world going green for environmental reasons, we are also faced with the other green revolution - little is stopping full legalization from taking place in the next five to ten years.  With the advances in cannabis being recognized as medicinally beneficial as well as advances within cryptocurrencies becoming recognized as a mainstream form of money, it is inevitable that the crypto stoners out there are going to utilize cryptocurrencies more and more.

Think of how safe it is to send $300 USD worth of crypto versus driving two cities over and going through a bad neighborhood to reach your establishment; crypto would be excellent for cannabis delivery services.  I’d far rather never put my fingers on cash, even if weed was completely legal.  I can only imagine what kind of “loyalty” programs that people who would pay in cryptocurrencies could set up, as well as “staking” rewards.

There is also the fact that blockchain technology could be used in agricultural or botanical ventures to maximize productivity, speed up selective breeding, increase potency, and perfect curing times.  Imagine putting a system like that to work on making something that is already great truly amazing.  As a cultivator, I find the idea of integrating blockchain technology into my growing systems to be the most important thing I could possibly be doing with crypto, not necessarily for cannabis but in general.

I know we can use a mathematical system to help decide things we should do naturally to keep the engine of the world running, the trees green, the oceans, and skies blue, and a shot at tomorrow still true.  It is not crazy to find a link between all of these things as they are things I can see myself and others I know being very enthusiastic about; we can’t start soon enough; we need to be pouring into blockchain development courses.

Picturing consumers, cultivators, retail workers, business executives, dispensaries, grow labs, research workers, and more all working together seamlessly on an advanced system designed to majorly enhance the economic function of all individual systems holds a great deal of appeal.  How hard will it be to get us there?  I picture the next ten years as the most essential years in the history of crypto; while we now have a foundation, the future’s true architecture has yet to come to fruition.

Cannabis cultivators would reap the benefit of blockchain tech’s additions to the scientific & production processes, while consumers, businesses, and corporations could reap massive benefits from cryptocurrencies through partner programs.  Imagine having a cryptocurrency that is backed by credit at any legal dispensary, would you be interested - I would be.

The future for cannabis and crypto remains unclear, but what is clear to me is that these two lustful mates have been mingling for a great deal of time already.  My 2 sats!

As always, comments, suggestions, and friendly debates are highly encouraged.

Stay smart & Stay safe.
