Be with people who know your value, not your price.

Price is a number you put on an item that tells us what it is physically worth as a cost. It results in a physical transaction of money that results in the exchange of an item or service. Usually the price results in a temporary change of ownership. The price changes with quality and time - some increase in value and others decrease in value with time.

Value is something deeper. It is of more pemanent value and can be eternal. It is not merely physical and there may not be a transaction done to experience one's value. It results in respect and relationships and also strengthens bonds. Value sometimes does not have a numerical identity, unlike price.

When people get to know you, they can put a price on you or they can put a value on you. They can consider you as someone who benefits them for a cost or they can respect you because they value you as a friend, mentor, guide or teacher.

People who put a price on you, will only look at how they can extract things from you for a cost. It's a transactional relationship.

People who place a value on you will forge a relationship with you and build each other up.

What type of person are you? Do you put a price on the people you interact with or do you value them? Do the people around you price you up or value you? Choose wisely the kind of people you spend a lot of time with. Don't waste time trying to increase your price. Increase you value in other peoples eyes - that is deeper and more permanent.
