5 Best Crypto Wallet apps of 2021 For Beginners

It's the year 2021, and if you haven't noticed yet... cryptocurrencies are making headlines. If you are considering jumping into the DeFi world, here is a list of the 5 best crypto wallet apps that I use which have helped me store cryptos safely and securely.

The 5 Best crypto wallet apps of 2021

  • Celsius Network - Celsius Network is a safe and secure mobile app available both in Apple and Google app stores. The web browser is being developed and will be released soon. Celsius Network allows direct on-boarding from fiat to crypto for a small fee, but will pay the fees for all withdrawals. I have enjoyed holding a few of my coins and tokens here as they have offered me incredibly competitive annual percentage yield/returns (APY/APR). Celsius Network also offers borrowing and lending against your coins with exceptionally low interest rates, and the best part is, you retain control of your tokens. One of the best things about this crypto wallet app is the use of the native token, $CEL, which offers increased benefits for APY or lowered interest rates on loans depending on the percentage of total CEL being held in your wallet. E.g. If 50% of the entire sum of your wallet is CEL, then you will receive greater rewards as compared to a 5% total sum.  *Note: CEL rewards are not yet available in all countries*
**If you use this referral code: 1549090096 you can earn 30$ of BTC on your first deposit of 200$ or more into Celsius Network.**
  • MetamaskMetamask is a crypto wallet available in Apple and Google app stores, and is also available as browser extension. Metamask is quite possibly the most used and trusted wallet in the crypto space. This wallet makes trading crypto quick and easy on nearly all Decentralized Exchanges or (DEX's). Metamask is also capable of connecting to most Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO's). If making quick trades in DEXs or staking on a DAO is what you are after, metamask may be your go-to.

  • Trust WalletTrust Wallet is a crypto wallet available in Apple and Google app stores. This wallet offers some cool mobile features such as a Web3 browser, staking, and a place to hold NFT's if you wish to do so. Trust Wallet also has an in app DEX which makes swapping tokens as easy as a click of a button. Similarly to Metamask, Trust Wallet can connect to DAO's via a QR scan using the Wallet Connect option. Trust Wallet also allows direct on-boarding from Fiat through a third party provider. All-in-all Trust Wallet is an incredibly safe, reliable, and efficient wallet app.

  • Atomic WalletAtomic Wallet is available for download in Apple and Google stores, and is also available for download by PC. Similar to many of Trust Wallet's features, Atomic is second to none. This wallet offers a plethora of coins and tokens to hold, swap, or buy. Atomic Wallet is incredibly user friendly, has a pleasing User Interface (UI), and offers exceptional customer support. This was my first wallet, and I still use it to this day for the simplicity and effectiveness, making it one of the best crypto wallets still in 2021.

  • ZerionWith all of these wallets available, we need something to help us keep track of all of our assets, gains, losses, transaction history, and financial metrics like measuring "HODLing" versus APYs. Zerion is available for download in both Google and Apple play stores. Zerion differs slightly in the fact that it isn't a wallet as much as a tool used with your wallets to help keep your portfolio organized. Connect to Zerion via Wallet Connect by QR scan with any wallet app capable of connecting such as: Metamask, Atomic Wallet, or Trust Wallet.

There are two important things to consider when creating a wallet.
1.) Write down your seed phrase and keep it in a safe place. DO NOT SHARE your phrase with anyone, for any reason, ever. I can confirm that there are hackers who will gladly hold your Crypto coins for you.
2.) If you purchased any cryptocurrency on a Centralized Exchange (CEXs) [Coinbase, KuCoin, Binance], then you MUST remove them from the exchange into a wallet. There is a common phrase amongst crypto traders: "Not your keys, not your coins".

If you wish to safely move your coins off an open exchange and into a wallet, I would suggest these 5 wallets. There is also another form of wallet called a "cold storage" wallet which is a small device similar to a thumb drive that is capable of holding your coins offline. This method guarantees that they are safe and cannot be stolen. Two of the most popular cold wallet storages are Trezor and Ledger
Additionally, some crypto platforms also offer highly safe, secure, and user friendly network wallets. These wallets act similarly to the other wallets aforementioned, only they are stored on the mainnet of the blockchain. Usually, these wallets offer staking rewards to incentivize users to HODL on the network to help further fund advancements in the project.

If you are new to this space, I urge you to exercise great caution. The crypto space is proving to be a great way to passively earn income, but as with anything there are risks involved. Use your best judgement, do your own research, and be responsible.
