Or should I call it Crypto for the Beginner? Either way, there’s an easy way to dip your toe in the crypto system with essentially no risk.
I get it - Crypto is weird. It’s hard to trust, or wrap your head around if you’re like me. I’m still not there. Yet, I’ve managed to accumulate a bunch of free cryptocurrency just by being willing to learn. I started a little more than a year ago with a savings app Long Game. If you checked in every day, they gave you a chance to spin a virtual wheel to win. At the time, they were introducing new currencies, and I averaged a gain every 3-5 days. Their ideal was to make checking in with your savings account a daily habit. They incentivized saving with cryptocurrency rewards.
I did put a little bit of money into the account, but when there was an issue, customer service was problematic. I’m not sure if that was their undoing, but I am positive it didn’t help. There was no phone number to contact them directly. That’s a problem. Customers were expected to reach out via text or email, and a response was received a week, or even two weeks later from a representative working out of the Philippines, or at least that’s my direct experience.
Initially, I was suspicious of cryptocurrency, in general. Then I compared it to the USD and how I relate to that these days. It’s all on a digital dashboard somewhere, and I rarely have actual cash on hand. So what’s the difference? Only time will tell. For now, I created a Coinbase Wallet and transferred all of my crypto bits from Long Game for safekeeping. This wallet costs me nothing to maintain, but don’t forget to write down your passkey and store it in a secure place, just in case. Can you cash it all out into USD and transfer it to your regular bank account? Yes.
I must admit, I was a little bereft when Long Game shut down. The whole process had become a daily habit - Spin the Wheel, win something or not, and transferring the winnings over. Then I was introduced to Coinbase. Again, I pay nothing for my account. They offer free crypto as a reward for watching a few videos. What started out as $31 worth of rewards is now worth over $50. Following that, i was introduced to Freebitco.in. This replaced the fun I was having with Long Game. I opened a free account and signed up for the promotional emails. Every day, I receive an email with a link to spin the wheel! I win free Bitcoin, Rewards Points, Lottery tickets - things like that. I am not a gambler, so I don’t roll my crypto over into wagers, but you can if that’s your thing. I just play for free and collect the crypto. I’m fine with slow and steady gains. Additionally, they have a chance every hour to win more. I had never heard of a Satoshi until I started playing. Now, I win them frequently, and I’m building up my balance to shuffle over to my wallet when I meet the threshold. I know I could earn more money with my existing crypto, but I’m still exploring those options. Stay tuned.
