Ever since they first told me about it, I have found the marshmallow test a fantastic experiment and I have always been a little sorry not to have been subjected as a child to understand how I would react.
You do not know him? I'll summarize it briefly.
It is a psychological test with the aim of verifying how children react when faced with a choice: better a reward now or better a double reward later?
The experiment carried out in the 1970s involved 50 children aged between 3 and 6 years. In one room they had the option to eat a marshmallow right away or wait 15 minutes and eat two.
I have always thought that a child of that age does not have big time references and that the biggest difficulty is this: do I eat marshmallow or who knows when I will eat two?
The study aimed to relate the expectation of the two marshmallows with the success that the boy would have in the following years and in the 90s it was confirmed that the children who had known how to wait had achieved better results in the studies.
Why did I decide to talk about this?
Because I've been thinking about it for a few days.
We are all experiencing this experiment here on Publish0x.
The platform allows us to withdraw our tokens at set deadlines and upon reaching a certain quota. A few days ago we were told that if we have the patience to wait indefinitely, the reward will be greater than 10%.
We are in the experiment. So far I've decided to wait, but that marshmallow is there looking at me. I know that I have the strength to wait for a greater reward, but the unknown of time risks playing tricks.
How are you behaving instead? Are you among those who succumb to temptation immediately or are you among those who will be able to resist up to 10% more? What will your friends do instead? Try asking him.
I don't know if it will be possible to extract the results of this psychological test, but in my opinion it should be reported and studied.
