Treading Water 

Treading water, but going under,
The waves of life are too strong,
I feel like I'm drowning in wonder,
With no way to right what's wrong.

The water's deep, the sky above,
Is just a distant memory,
And all I feel is a sense of love,
For what I used to be.

Drowning in a sea of thoughts,
The weight of worries pulls me down,
Each wave a stress that never stops,
And all I hear is a hopeless sound.

I gasp for air, but find no peace,
My mind a storm that won't subside,
A constant battle that won't cease,
As I struggle to keep my head high.

But I won't give up, I won't surrender,
I'll fight this battle till the end,
For I know that I am a defender,
Of all that I hold dear and true.

The currents swirl, a whirlpool's might,
And I am lost in its embrace,
The tides of fear and doubt in sight,
And I can't escape this mental race.

So I'll keep swimming, keep pushing on,
Through the storm and through the night,
For I know that I am not alone,
And that the dawn will bring new light.

And when I reach the shore once more,
I'll stand tall, I'll rise above,
For I am strong, I am a survivor,
Of this sea of life that I've been through.

And I'll keep swimming, through the night,
Towards the light, towards the shore,
And when I reach it, I'll take flight,
And rise above this sea once more.
