Lonely Winter Nights

The long cold winter nights have come, And with them, a feeling of dread.

I lay here all alone in bed, With nothing to keep me warm in my head.

The wind howls outside my window, A mournful song of despair.

It echoes the loneliness within me, A feeling that I cannot bear.

The fire in the hearth has died, Leaving only ashes in its wake.

A reflection of my heart, Empty and cold, with nothing to take.

I try to fill the void with books, And music that once brought me joy.

But they only serve to remind me, Of the love I did not employ.

I roam the halls of my home, A prison of my own design.

Haunting memories linger, Of a love that was once mine.

The clock ticks on, taunting me, With each passing second of the night.

I lay here wide awake, Wishing for the dawn's first light.

But even as the sun rises, The loneliness lingers still.

For in the light of day, I am alone, and always will.

The long cold winter nights are endless, A reminder of what I've lost.

And I can only dream of spring, When the ice within me will thaw.

But until then, I'll lay here, In the darkness of my soul.
