In the shadows of the mind Lurk dangers of a different kind
Thoughts that creep and thoughts that crawl Echoes that threaten to enthrall
Memories of pain, fear, and regret Haunt the corners we dare not forget
Doubts and insecurities, Whisper lies and feed the maladies
We try to push them away, To bury them, to make them stray
But they linger, they persist In the shadows, they twist and twist
We try to silence them with noise With distraction, with temporary joys
But they come back, more fierce than before Reminding us of what we're trying to ignore
They cloud our judgment and blur our sight They hold us back and dim our light
But we must not give in to the dark For in the light, our strength will spark
We'll face the shadows, head on And find our way, before long
For in the shadows of the mind There also lies potential to find
A path to peace, a way to heal And to our true selves, reveal.
We'll learn to accept and understand The parts of us we couldn't stand
We'll learn to let go of the past And make peace with what couldn't
last We'll learn to love ourselves more And close the door to shadows that once bore
For in the shadows of the mind There's also beauty, waiting to find
A way to grow, to learn, to be And to live our lives, truly free
So let us not be afraid Of the shadows that linger and fade
For they are a part of us, after all And in facing them, we will stand tall.
