In the midnight's dark embrace, As the moon casts a haunting face,

I wander through this empty space, With solitude as my only grace.

The world around me is silent and still, Save for the sound of the whippoorwill,

And the chill in the air that makes me thrill, As I walk with a purpose, against my will.

But in the distance, a glimmer of hope, As the night begins to slowly elope,

And the horizon starts to slightly slope, As the first light of day begins to cope.

So I quicken my pace, with a renewed might, And chase the dawn, with all my might,

For in its warmth, I'll find my light, And leave behind the darkness of the night.

And as the sun creeps up, with a golden ray, I feel the darkness slowly slip away,

And with a smile, I start my day, With the night's memory, tucked far away.
