I had a lovely trip to the picturesque city of Vidin, Bulgaria last summer. Among the other beautiful places I managed to visit, my favourite was undoubtedly the most atmospheric one. The huge medieval castle is a paradise for any photographer.

The second photo also has a framing effect, though it is not as prominent.

There are several similar-looking towers, of which two were accessible to tourists. Two others are locked.

The castle sits at the shore of the Danube.

I like the brick walls and rocks that were used centuries ago. It's incredible how this building managed to survive more than six centuries (or more).

This is a view towards the yard on the upper level. Medieval kings were also admiring the beauty of the structure (maybe?).

This is the smallest tower that was not accessible.
