Dean Koontz is an author that I've read off and on for years and like any author he has good works and some that just don't do it for me.

Dark Rivers of the Heart is one of my favorites.

The main character's name is Spencer Grant. He somehow has a falling out with the powers that be and the rest of the book is about the chase.

He and his dog, Rocky, fall in with a woman named Valerie who is also on the run from these same people. (It's Koontz book, so there is always a guy, a girl and a dog.)

Valerie has some mad hacker skills and has taken control of a Japanese military satellite dubbed Godzilla. This satellite is a directed energy weapon much like the one in the James Bond film GoldenEye.

In the end they disappeared into oblivion. I don't remember how. It's been 15 years or so since I read the book, but now I think I may need to peruse it again.

When I saw the story Nashville “Bombing” – Directed Energy Weapon Caught on Camera BEFORE Explosion!, this book popped into mind.

Another thing about the bombing is that, from what I've seen, there is no crater in the street. There are a few other anomalies mentioned.

I'll leave you with this video pulled from the story.

Archive everything.
