Yesterday I wrote about the SEC being hacked. I was somewhat joking in nature when writing the post. I mean, what a joke that the SEC would be hacked. A government agency with a holier than thou approach to cryptocurrencies and enforcement in general.
Now, I came across this article today:
https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/sec-investigate-itself-gary-gensler-002121323.html
It raises a question about the SEC. Should it investigate itself? Now, That brings up many thoughts for me. Would you trust the SEC to honestly investigate itself? I would not. However, if this happened at any other company where it affected the prices of another commodity (which is inherently what the SEC identifies Bitcoin as) they would be demanding accountability, and likely investigate with looming criminal charges.
I say Chairman Gensler should be held accountable! I joked in yesterdays post that I would not be surprised if it was not on purpose, to further add mistrust and fear surrounding cryptocurrency. I believe it was not intentionally sanctioned by the SEC, but it was nonetheless intentional by the bad actor who purposefully messed with the cryptocurrency market.
Think about it, the price of Bitcoin went up to nearly $48,000 down to the mid $45,500 in the span of people believing spot Bitcoin ETF's were approved to finding out it was "fake news" and not a real X or Tweet post.
The SEC intentionally caused a lot of harm to a lot of people, and would seek out "justice 'if it was any other entity or company.
I am not holding my breath that it will pursue this criminal act with the same vigor it would have if the bad actor was not in the SEC.
I hope the SEC surprises me and holds Chairman Gensler and itself accountable for this major problem that manipulated the markets.
