As I was on break at work this afternoon, I read the news item, or speculation item from entertainment websites. I came across this article: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-interview-suspending-gas-tax-iran-war/

In it, and in other articles it talked about the possibility of the United States suspending the gas tax for a period of time. It did not appear that this was finalized, or what length of time it would be suspended for. The article mentioned Senator Josh Hawley was going to introduce a bill to make it happen.

I am not here to take sides in the political left and right fight, but for practical reasons, if this happens, it is the single largest government program to help the poor and working class. The tax is 18.4 cents a gallon.

Read that, 18.4 cents per gallon. On top of that, in a state like Minnesota, the state gas tax is 32.6 cents per gallon. So, if you live in Minnesota, you pay 51 cents a gallon straight to the government. That is an additional 12.5 percent tax on your income for each and every gallon you buy when gas is at $4 per gallon. If you move the gallon price to $3, it is a 16% tax on your income for each and every gallon you buy.

Raising taxes is not a virtue, and the Dems are not for the poor, just creating dependency to rob them blind, not opinion, just fact. Taxes harm everyone, and government programs are run poorly. Fact.  They cant even run a mail delivery services for profit, due to waste.
