I have been thinking about the idea of common sense. Now, the name suggests that sense when thinking is common. However, after thinking about the idea of common sense, and how uncommon it appears to really be, it seems that we need to get back to the basics.
How does this relate to cryptocurrency? It may or may not, what I am thinkin though is if you use common sense that investing should not be emotional, that you should only invest what you can afford to lose, and only invest in projects or a business that has a solid foundation, it should be a winning strategy for investing and in life in general.
The problem for some becomes when they throw out this common sense, and want to get rich quick, or think that their "really strong feelings" are more than just a fleeting feeling, not the truth is when things seem to go awry.
We all use cognitive distortions to some degree, and those who use them minimally tend to do better in life. One common cognitive distortion involves "I don't have enough time" and another is "I don't have enough money." Let's break down the first one. Do we really not have enough time, or are we so distracted and avoidant of things that we believed that nonsense? If a person works for 10 straight hours, non-stop at work, they are busy for those 10 hours. They possibly do not have time for much other than work during those hours. Even then, unless you work in a labor job or a filed that does not allow for distractions, you spend up to forty of fifty percent distracting yourself. Not judging, just being realistic. If you don't believe me, do a time study on yourself! I have learned this, and have turned the time distracted by scrolling into crypto earning opportunities, time to write notes about the books I am writing, and have generally been working on being productive in an enjoyable manner. I don't need distractions, I was just taught to be distracted as a kid. For example, over the past two years, I have earned over 1k in crypto at the time of investment simply by using the time I formally wasted by scrolling nonsense (memes and short videos anyone). Now, I am HODL'ing, and 1k might not seem like much, but I am up 4x on the initial overall investment since I began entering the cryptocurrency fray a few years ago. This part leads to the second point, I don't have enough money. I have two jobs, and I am not willing to invest a lot, I can't afford to lose tens of thousands, or even thousands of dollars. So, every little bit counts, from the staking I get, to the use of free time formally used for scrolling and wasting time, had eventually turned into something sizeable.
Now, this is just my way of thinking now, and if I am lucky enough to write a book that people want to consume, maybe then I can afford to risk more in cryptocurrency.
Time will tell, I am learning to make common sense common again for myself.
