I have to say, in the short term the current president of the United States is the best thing to happen to cryptocurrency.

First off, the benefit of having a Republican president that is pro-business, pro-reigning in government regulation, and pro-working class is a benefit to the middle class and the economy as a whole. That is a win for all, even those who do not like Trump, are anti-Trump, and it even benefits those inflicted with a serious, serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Contrary to what you might have just read, I am not picking sides and this is not necessary a pro Trump post. I think those statements are measurable facts.

Second, since President Trump had reversed course and embraced cryptocurrency, it was and has been a win for cryptocurrency. The change in the SEC dropped it witch hunt and made up things as they went, picking various cryptocurrencies to pick on "all willy nilly like" was BS. It appears that the SEC is being a little more level headed when it comes to cryptocurrency. I have written about my belief in the past that most cryptocurrency are commodities.

Now, will President Trump be good for cryptocurrency in the long term? I think it likely will be an overall net positive, with the two points I made above. However, here is what scares me about the Trump effect on cryptocurrency in the long run. I am worried his and his wife's cryptocurrency projects are not real, are a money grab or as they call them a "rug pull" so to speak.  

I love the current pace the SEC is taking when it comes to cryptocurrency.
