I have been learning about cryptocurrency for the past three years of so. One thing that I have learned over the years, that has been increasingly accurate is that I SHOULD NOT TRUST WHAT MOST ARTICLE TALK ABOUT WITH CRYPTOCURRENCY. A lot of the initial reads are like snake oil salesmen, telling me one is better than the other, in what appears to be efforts to see whatever junk they are selling.
What I have learned is that a simple Google search using the search term "crypto" or a specific cryptocurrency yields a bunch of stuff that over sells of under sells a various cryptocurrency in favor of another cryptocurrency. My guess this is due to paid advertising to get them in to the top of the search output. Several years ago, I did not quite get it and was surprised and more influenced by this. Luckily, I was naïve in how to invest in cryptocurrency at the time. I was responding emotionally to a various cryptocurrency that I read about. I was researching how to invest in it, and was upset I was not able to as I was sure it was the next "millionaire maker."
Thanks goodness I learned quickly about how Google searches worked and was unable to invest into that particular cryptocurrency that I "knew" was going to get big quick because of some BS article I read and how it presented it as a great opportunity. I would have lost money, and would likely have bowed out of learning more and investing in cryptocurrency if I would have allowed myself to be manipulated by some crack article.
I have learned to not invest through emotions, never buy or sell when emotional. I also learned that I should not trust one site, and I should search out reputable websites, and look at the history of the cryptocurrency before I invest.
Since then, I have invested in various cryptocurrencies, and have (as of this writing) tripled my initial investments, and if it was not for the past week or so where the value of my investments went down, I would have quadrupled what I had initially invested. Now, I am not selling, so I still have everything I initially invested in, and I believe will do well over time.
