Cryptocurrency: Is Ethereum a "long con?"

Cryptocurrency: Is Ethereum a "long con?"

First, for those of you who say people like to spread the FUD, that is not the point of this post. I think it is very important in life to challenge ourselves to think about as much of an issue as we can. Burying our head in the sand when we like or dislike something leads to more problems than necessary.

To be honest one of the first things I noticed as I began reading up on cryptocurrency in general, and specifically about any particular cryptocurrency coin or token is that you can find the FUD for each, as well as you can find the Pollyannaish optimism for each as well.  I like to read both, I feel this gives me a better understanding of the system I am dealing with.

Yesterday, I read about something that I found interesting, and something that comes form someone who appears to have a great understanding of cryptocurrency.  The article outlined how this man thinks Ethereum is a "long con," something that will eventually crash as otehrs have mroe recently.  Here is the article:  https://www.kitco.com/news/2022-11-29/Ethereum-is-a-con-will-eventually-blow-up-like-FTX-as-Bitcoin-becomes-primary-global-form-of-money.html

Apparently the gentleman who raised the question I posted about had predicted the fall of FTX, Celsius, and Terra/Luna calling them "Ponzi schemes."  If this is true, he was right. If this was true and he was right, is he right about Ethereum?

Full disclosure, I have some invested in Ethereum, so I am not just trying to talk bad about a particular cryptocurrency. I have read about the so called "Ethereum Killers" and a few of them seem to be better in the long term. However, better does not always equate to the winner. The one major thing Ethereum seems to have going for itself is that it was adopted and founded early in the life of cryptocurrency and therefore has a strong foothold in the space.

As always, I am fascinated by cryptocurrency and am enjoying the ride as I am learning.

Cryptocurrency is a fascinating idea, one that has many confused, scared and dismissive of the concept. However, it also is intriguing and likely a large part of the future.
