I have read about this topic off and on for the past year or two.
I have read things like cryptocurrency is bad for the energy sector, that it is just a waste of energy to put it simply. Today, I came across this article: https://insideclimatenews.org/news/06022024/todays-climate-cryptocurrency-energy-information-administration-energy-use-climate-change/ Apparently, the esteemed Biden administration put in place regulations to or requirements for "some" cryptocurrency producers to reprot their energy usage.
Let that sink in! First of all, the idea to me is ridiculous on it's own merit. Second, the idea of "some" reeks of the same stank that the SEC does when it is picking and choosing "some" cryptocurrencies as securities and "some" not.
Let's be serious for a minute. If there was a real concern for global warming, the original term they used for "climate change" as a scare tactic, they would not have to pick and choose "some." Now, now, for all of those potential zealots and "climate bully's" out there, I am not saying this is not an issue that we can work towards addressing, I am just saying if we are going to be serious about it, we can't pick and chose "some."
I mean, do actual research on the impact of electric cars. They are not energy neutral or even in the energy positive category. Then look at the environmental cost of solar panels, really look and don't confirm your bias. Just read the truth. This idea that cryptocurrency is a problem is silly to me.
The environment is important, not a political weapon. There were no cars of automobiles at the end of the ice age. Imaging if democrats were in charge then. They would have said the animals are producing too much "gas" and needed to be stopped in favor of eating weeds. I know, the argument is that the "Speed" of warming is the issue. I have to say, yes, it seems faster now. It really does. There are measures for that sort of thing. But here's the thing, there were no measures during the end of the ice age to say that there were not periods of time where the "speed was not as high or higher at times during the 7000 years of ending the ice age.
Now, here is an article talking about how there was a government push for global cooling in the 1970's: https://flashbak.com/when-hell-freezes-over-remembering-the-pop-culture-ice-age-panic-of-the-1970s-27091/
I know again, I am going to be called a climate denier. I am not actually. Again, I believe we should do everything we can to minimize carbon output. We may have had something to do with the current warming trends. However, we may not. Either way, we should work to be climate friendly. I just am sick and tire of the picking and choosing of what should be regulated and what should not be. I mean, the democrats are generally against crypto, so regulate "some" of it. But do not regulate anything to do with or be honest about any subsidized "green energy" honestly.
I am having fun with this article because I am sure many will have a strong opinion. All I ask for is thought, I am not denying anything, I am asking myself to not drink the Kool-Aid as it is served!
